BAPTISM
Infant Baptism
The United Methodist Church recognizes the two sacraments in which Christ himself participated: baptism and the Lord's Supper. Baptism joins Christians everywhere, and is a symbol of new life and forgiveness of sins. Persons of any age can be baptized once, and the method can be sprinkling, immersion or pouring.
In the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, "we are initiated into Christ's holy church, … incorporated into God's mighty acts of salvation and given new birth through water and the Spirit," the Introduction to the Baptismal Covenant says. "All this is God's gift, offered to us without price."
The sacrament of Infant Baptism enables each of us to welcome your child into the family of God. During infant baptism, parents and sponsors affirm God’s promises as well as reaffirm Christian beliefs and commitments. We look forward to welcoming your child into Newnan First United Methodist Church's community of faith. This is a special milestone in the life of your family, and we celebrate this occasion together as a church.
Baptisms are celebrated at both morning worship services and can be scheduled on most Sundays.
